If I did it again, I'd get the 6 gallon Turbo II not 8 gallon Turbo III because the still kind of bulky for what I do (although still way smaller than the 16 gallon Craftsman shop vac we still have#, and I'd buy the electric floor brush only if was around $100, not $240 #I bet Fein's unit costs are high because it's a low volume item). Guys may find it acceptable but spouses may not.
And as other reviewers note, it does a good job picking up dirt. The Fein PB350 Electric Floor Brush seemed like a good idea: Take a first class (albeit heavy), quiet shop vac with good filtration and also make it the inside-the-house vacuum cleaner by adding a $240 powered floor brush kit.
The cord-and-hose combination, even with extra clips, is clunky and looks kind of dorky. Here's the problem:* The power cord that runs from the unit to the power head is on the outside of the hose and tangles easily.
The half dozen or so clips Fein includes are half what you need. * Undoing the power cord to swap out the power floor brush is a hassle, so I bought a second Fein hose, for $60 -- one for regular tools, one for the power floor brush, and I swap out the entire assembly* Total cost works out to about $700-$800: 8 gallon vac, the wet/dry tools kit (about $100), the electric floor brush, and the second hoseWe went this direction because our house vac was dying and I figured, what the heck, give it a try.
I have a one-generation removed Turbo III and the molding on the underside of the handle is like 3 knife edges that cut into your hand.
When my wife's vacuum broke down, we pulled the Fein Turbo II out of the woodworking shop to take over duties until we decided what to buy next. For example, the old upright vacuum was too high to get under low places (like the bed) while this floor brush can fit under tight spaces. Given how quiet and powerful the vacuum is compared to the expensive plastic junk on the market, I decided to give the electric floor brush a try for our carpets. While not inexpensive, it exceeded my expectations in terms of power and usefulness. The cord is long enough to move around a large room easily (and the Fein Turbo II can be pulled easily by the 16' hose which is firmly attached). Looks like the next purchase will be another Fein Vacuum for the house so I can get the Turbo II back in the shop.
I thought this was only going to work for carpet. I have lots of Fein equipment and find it to be of the highest quality. On carpet it picked up everything in its way with no complaints. This electric floor brush is no exception. It runs very quietly, has an agressive brush and even picks up on hardwood, which really surprised me. I have the newer model Turbo 1 and this broom works very well with it. I highly recommend this power brush.
to get a good conventional upright vacuum these days you are looking at at least $400 or more, I bought the PB350 to go with my Fein Turbo 2 and I does a better job of picking up dirt off carpet than most uprights i have ever used, while also being lighter and much easier to maneuver than any upright. The Turbo 2 is the best shop vac style vacuum that money can buy, and this attachment makes it the only vacuum you need for your house.
